Four days after the earthquake, authorities and operators are beginning to quantify the restoration of communications. The percentages describe different scopes and remain institutional or company statements.
More than 85% in “most networks”, according to MinTIC
At 7:46 p.m., MinTIC said operators had repaired fibre, restored antennas and installed generators with local authorities and the armed forces. The ministry says recovery exceeds 85% in most networks, without publishing a single nationwide rate by operator, technology or territory.
Continuity measures for customers
According to the ministry, operators suspended disconnections for non-payment and activated connectivity benefits. The announced next stage includes internet and equipment for affected schools and community spaces, together with infrastructure reinforcement; no timetable or beneficiary count is provided.
Claro and Tigo report their own scopes
In statements relayed by EL PAÍS, Claro says it restored 86% of its affected stations, acquired 146 generators and began installing 26 in Quibdó, Pereira and Cali. Tigo says it restored 91% of its mobile sites across Chocó, Risaralda, Caldas, Quindío and Valle del Cauca using temporary power, fibre repairs, node recovery and transport-route restoration. The figures are not an independent measurement.
Amateur radio as an emergency link
At 8:37 p.m., MinTIC announced that amateur radio leagues were offering infrastructure, equipment, antennas, repeaters and trained operators as needed. The publication does not quantify teams or links actually deployed.
