Mayor Carlos F. Galán said at 8:04 p.m. on August 15 that more than 1,174 tonnes of aid had left Bogotá for the areas hardest hit by the earthquake. The capital also mobilised more than 900 units of blood and technical support for buildings and water networks.
A dispatched volume with no published breakdown
The post does not detail the contents of the 1,174 tonnes or their allocation by destination or beneficiary. It confirms departure from Bogotá but does not establish receipt or final distribution of every shipment.
Blood and technical capacity
Galán mentions more than 900 units of blood. He also reports that engineering teams were sent to assess structures and Acueducto utility staff to support network reconnection in the most affected cities.
These teams represent announced support for local authorities; the post gives no staffing total, list of cities served or progress for each intervention.
A commitment to reconstruction
The mayor says Bogotá intends to keep contributing during reconstruction. The statement does not yet set another volume, budget or timetable.
Avoiding double counts
Bogotá’s announced total should not automatically be added to national or international shipments reported elsewhere. The same goods may appear at different transport stages or in several tallies.
The dispatched total reaches 1,337 tonnes
As of August 16, Bogotá and the Red Cross list 109 shipments to Pereira, Quibdó, Cali, Buenaventura, Armenia and Manizales: 451 tonnes for Risaralda, 417 for Valle del Cauca, 252 for Chocó, 113 for Quindío and 104 for Caldas.
Collection points closed temporarily at noon on August 17 for a transition and preparation phase. The city says the pause does not end the response in affected areas. Ten volunteers were due to join eight already in Chocó.
More than 2,300 tonnes left in 175 trucks
Mayor Carlos Fernando Galán announces more than 2,300 tonnes dispatched. Another 400 tonnes are ready but are not counted as already sent. UNGRD announced air support and the Palacio de los Deportes centre remains open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
