Cali mayor Alejandro Eder announced a new curfew for the night of August 11–12. The restriction applies from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. throughout the city to protect search operations and the hardest-hit areas.

The measure runs from Tuesday, August 11 at 9 p.m. until Wednesday, August 12 at 6 a.m. The announcement covers all of Cali, while the military presence mentioned by the mayor concerns the most affected areas.
Protecting searches and people still trapped
According to the mayor, the curfew is intended to facilitate the work of rescue teams and volunteers and protect people still being sought under rubble. This is an operational announcement by the city; it does not, by itself, establish a new human toll.
The city is keeping a military presence in the hardest-hit sectors to protect businesses, residents and homes. The announcement does not mean that the entire city is under military control.
Emergency personnel remain allowed to move
Rescuers, volunteers at intervention points, members of the security forces and district staff directly assigned to the emergency are exempt. The sources reviewed do not specify additional categories or documentation requirements.
Residents should follow official local instructions and stay away from search areas even before the curfew takes effect.
Donation collection continues
The mayor also called on volunteers to support operations. Collection continues at Plazoleta Jairo Varela and Escuela Nacional del Deporte for non-perishable food, first-aid supplies, drinking water and hygiene kits.
