UNGRD published a new provisional national update at 8:50:57 a.m. on August 15, with a 6:30 a.m. cutoff. It lists 54,008 families and 115,461 people affected in 448 municipalities across fifteen departments.
A human toll with a 6:30 a.m. cutoff
The new update records 294 deaths, 3,935 injured, 320 missing and 353 rescued. These categories belong to the same national update and should be read with its cutoff time and scope.
Homes and buildings remain heavily affected
UNGRD lists 81,506 damaged homes, 14,493 destroyed homes and 66 collapsed buildings. It also records impacts on 241 health centres, 2,612 education facilities and 3,621 community centres.
Roads, water systems, bridges and airports
The update lists 298 roads, 59 aqueducts, 44 road bridges, five pedestrian bridges and five airports affected. This publication does not state each facility’s operating status or provide a municipal breakdown.
Revisions do not describe individual outcomes
At 4:30 p.m. on August 14, UNGRD listed 288 deaths, 4,018 injured, 202 missing, 354 rescued, 57,516 families and 145,601 affected people. The new update provides no methodology note explaining increases and decreases across categories.
It is therefore not possible to infer directly how many people were located, reclassified or removed from an inventory. The medico-legal record also has a different scope.
Animals rescued and affected
The agency also reports 188 animals rescued and 578 affected. These totals belong to the 6:30 a.m. update and may change in later consolidations.
