The national scale of housing damage

Three phases and announced time horizons

The first phase is intended to run until the end of August: initial work on buildings, debris removal, a materials bank, structural assessments and rent support for families that lost all or part of their home.

The second phase, announced for an initial six months, covers urban and rural repairs, announced non-billing of utilities for affected people, and the purchase of already-built homes in coordination with Camacol, compensation funds, insurers and banks.

The third phase is intended to continue through President Abelardo’s term with new housing and integrated urban renewal. Public funding, private investment and international partnerships are identified, but implementation, coverage and a timetable for each measure have not yet been published.
