The national tally as of 7:30 a.m. on August 16 reports 289 dead, 4,187 injured, 143 missing and 354 people rescued. UNGRD counts 120,238 families and 185,016 affected people across 15 departments and 450 municipalities.
Two consolidations must remain separate
The August 15 tally at 6:30 p.m. already reported 289 dead and 143 missing. Between the two official snapshots, the injured count rises from 3,937 to 4,187 and rescues from 353 to 354. These differences describe administrative consolidation; they do not mean every additional case occurred overnight.
Pereira and Risaralda drive much of the increase
UNGRD links the considerable increase to the report from Pereira’s city government and the Risaralda update. The number of affected people in that department is still being consolidated, leaving the national tally provisional.
Families rise from 54,382 to 120,238 and affected people from 117,222 to 185,016. The geographic scope also grows from 448 to 450 municipalities.
Homes and essential services
The new snapshot lists 127,557 damaged homes, 26,945 destroyed homes and 66 collapsed buildings. It also identifies 285 health centres, 2,838 schools and 3,782 community centres as affected.
Infrastructure totals include 407 roads, 92 aqueducts, 44 road bridges, 12 pedestrian bridges and five airports. The previous snapshot listed 308 roads, 62 aqueducts, 44 road bridges, five pedestrian bridges and five airports.
A changing inventory
The agency counts 510 rescued animals and 822 affected, up from 205 and 754 in the previous snapshot. Like the rest of the tally, these figures remain tied to a specific reference time and geographic scope.
