XM reports a major step in restoring electricity across western Colombia. Its August 11, 6 p.m. update measures affected electricity demand: it describes supply to the system, not the status of every customer or local circuit.
Regional restoration assessed at 91%
According to XM, 91% of affected electricity demand in the monitored western regions had been restored. This is an aggregate energy indicator and must not be converted into a number or share of customers reconnected.
Gaps remain between regions
Demand still affected stood at 11% in Valle del Cauca, down from 70% initially; 14.3% across Caldas–Quindío–Risaralda, down from 82%; and 2% in Cauca–Nariño, down from 44%.
Chocó moves from 100% to 0% under XM’s indicator
In Chocó, affected demand fell from 100% to 0%. This full restoration applies to XM’s indicator at the 6 p.m. cutoff; it does not prove that every local circuit, water system or telecommunications service is operating everywhere.
Work continues in the remaining areas
XM says field work will continue until full restoration wherever demand remains affected. Further updates will need to clarify local progress in Valle del Cauca and Caldas–Quindío–Risaralda.
