Two announcements published on the evening of August 14 describe planned support for hospitals in Valle del Cauca. Cali’s mayor first confirmed the principle of national resources for HUV; the president later specified an amount for its oncology unit and announced two other funding lines.
COP 4.386 billion announced for oncology
At 10:32:24 p.m., President Abelardo de la Espriella announced, together with the Health Ministry and Valle departmental government, COP 4,386,000,000 to equip the functional oncology unit at Hospital Universitario del Valle Evaristo García. He attributed the funding to Resolution 1080 of 2026.
Temporary operations planned during HUV recovery
The same message announces resources to rent temporary medical infrastructure and maintain HUV operations. It provides no rental amount, address, capacity or timetable.
Full recovery funding announced in El Águila
The president also announces full funding for the recovery of San Rafael hospital in El Águila. The publication gives no amount, timetable or separate document for this measure.
Cali’s mayor confirms the principle of support for HUV
At 8:34:45 p.m., after visiting HUV, Mayor Alejandro Eder said the national government would provide resources for intervention and recovery at the hospital and for renting temporary spaces to maintain care.
His message corroborates the principle of HUV support but does not mention the COP 4.386 billion amount or the El Águila hospital.
Announcements whose implementation remains to be tracked
