In a message published on August 13 at 8:08:27 a.m., President Abelardo de la Espriella announced a $10 million donation from the United Arab Emirates for the earthquake response. AP and EL PAÍS reported the presidential statement.

An announcement attributed to both presidents

Abelardo de la Espriella says he spoke with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, president of the United Arab Emirates, and thanked him for the announced donation.

Funds presented for earthquake response

The presidential message presents the $10 million as a contribution to address the tragedy caused by the earthquake. It does not allocate the amount by territory, agency or category of need.

Announcement does not yet mean disbursement

The sources reviewed confirm that the Colombian president announced the donation. They publish no separate Emirati confirmation, transfer schedule, confirmation that funds were received or spending already completed.

What still needs to be documented

Useful follow-up should specify the financial channel, managing agency, beneficiaries and spending actually committed. Until then, the amount remains announced aid.
