The National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD) released a provisional national balance as of 09:00 on August 14, documenting 287 fatalities and 3,975 injured following the earthquake.
A national update with a 9:00 a.m. cutoff
UNGRD records 287 deaths, 3,975 injured, 378 missing and 354 rescued. The same update covers 56,448 families, equivalent to 135,179 affected people in 437 municipalities across fifteen departments.
Two successive updates must be retained
The 6:30 a.m. update listed 285 deaths, 3,975 injured, 379 missing and 354 rescued. The change in the missing count does not by itself establish a rescue, an identification or any other individual outcome.
Homes and infrastructure
The 9:00 a.m. update lists 79,108 damaged homes, 13,077 destroyed homes and 121 collapsed buildings. It also records impacts on 238 health centres, 2,486 education facilities, 2,093 community centres, 254 roads, 87 aqueducts, 50 road bridges, seven pedestrian bridges and five airports. It reports 169 animals rescued and 338 affected.
Searches and coordination
UNGRD director David Tamayo said the priority remained people trapped under rubble and that searches continued. At 12:14 p.m., UNGRD said the National Unified Command Post remained active and that territories had submitted updated needs; it requested technical characterisations of structures and described its crisis-room data as the official basis.
